Life of Asian Photography
On the economic field, the Asian world has just recently made its entrance to the world of the big guys, but culturally the Far East has already run through a lifetime of experience. As the art scene in China and Japan is so extended, we decided to focus on the little known photographers from these countries. The goal of this website is to make the Western laic art-lover acquainted with this rich and inspiring tradition and to guide him or her through the streets and landscapes of the beautiful Far East, depicted by its locals. To bring some kind of structure to the massive amount of information we gathered, we divided our photographers into two categories. We chose one young Chinese photographer, naming his part "1 x ∞": one person with limitless possibilities. Next to that, we selected ten Japanese photographers, both contemporary and traditional, and added to each artist ten photos that represented their work and their heritage the most. We hope that with this we can put some light upon the photography from the Far East and bring these artists out of the shadows of the skyscrapers, temples and other prejudices.
